Month 10 and 11 (playing catch up, part 2)

  

Month 10 started off with crawling, and ended with standing.  By the beginning of month 11, you were walking anywhere and everywhere.
You are the definition of a free spirit, never settling in someone's arms or able to be coaxed into anything.  You have to explore, see, taste, touch, everything.  So far, I've fished a beetle and a worm from your mouth.
If Dad and I had to assign you a motto, it would be "Don't fence me in!"

Month 9 (playing catch up)

 

I have so much to catch up on, so let's go over the highlights:

Big Bro came down to visit.
You were army crawling (more like zombie crawling) and started really crawling the day Big Bro left!
Still waking up all. night. long.

Month 8

I just realized (2 months later) that I never finished this 8 month post for baby Cole.  Our summer was so busy with Cam coming to visit, and starting a new business, that I've completely neglected to blog.  Hmm...the work slacker comes to mind...  

Anywho, 8 months....

Cole could sit up on his own, and was army crawling all over the house - we called it zombie crawling though, because he made this creepy grunting noise each time he pulled yourself a bit further.  Boy I miss that creepy little grunt. 

Baby led weaning was a success and he (finally) started only waking up at 3 and 5am throughout the night. Hallelujah!

Month 7

I know this is seriously late (try 2 months) but here's Cole's 7 month update.

During month 7 you began teetering with sitting up on your own.  

We started baby led weaning since you don't like baby food but love real food.  

You can do a plank, and are beginning to army crawl!

Month 5

This month flew by!  You've found your feet and simply must put them in your mouth at all times.  You love to suck on your big toe.  

You are the happiest, most adorable baby every, but sometimes you make this expression where you remind me of John Candy, as evidenced in the picture directly below.  

You love jumping in your jumper, and when placed on your back you constantly roll to your belly any chance you get.

All month long, we started giving you tastes of fruits.  You love melons and apples, but make a sour face when we let you suck on an orange.  

By the end of the month, you'd tried your first taste of baby food (peas) and you really seemed to like them.

Nursery on a Budget

Oh, the ways we change from being a first time parent to a second time parent.  When we were pregnant with Little Guy, we went all out.  All of his nursery furniture was from Babies R Us, and his bedding and decor was all matchy-matchy Amy Coe stuff.  

It was adorable. 

It was expensive.  

It was needless.

When we found out we were pregnant with this baby, I vowed not to get ridiculous and spend a fortune on baby stuff, and you know what?  

It was much easier than I ever thought!

I didn't even have a baby shower because I didn't need or want anyone to spend money on baby stuff that we didn't need.

How did I do it?

By utilizing Craigslist and a local SwipSwap facebook group for babies.

• I found Baby Boy's crib on Craigslist (and it has the attached changing table with drawers and shelves).
• Instead of a mobile, which can run from $30+, we found this adorable circus tent from IKEA.
• I made a circle bunting with scrapbook paper from Michaels, and it happens to be one of Baby Boy's favorite things to look at in his room.

• I was given a TON of baby clothes.  Mostly hand-me-downs from my nephews, and some new outfits from family members.  We've really only bought a few items ourselves.
• I scored a Moby Wrap from the local swipswap for only $5!  This was probably one of my favorite deals yet.

I bought the changing table for $10. It was a dirty, ugly, pepto-pink, so I cleaned, sanded, and spray painted it this fun orange color, and use it to hold these bins from Babies R Us.

I bought these seriously economical Cloth Diapers ($5-$8 each!!).

We also bought a pack n' play (which, alternating with our bed, is where Baby Boy currently sleeps) for $30, and a Fisher-Price Cradle 'N Swing, My Little Snugabunny, (which is AWESOME!!) for $50.

All together, Baby Boy's gear has cost us less than $350!!  How amazing is that?!

Next time someone tells you babies are expensive, I'll be here to tell you that certainly don't have to be.

Priceless, yes.
Expensive, no.
