I is for Insects!

Letter I week was a pretty fun one.  The best part about it, was that it just happened to coincide with the opening of a new Insect Exhibit at The Orlando Science Center!

Everyday we sang "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" along with the book by Lorianne Siomodes.

We took a walk to the park to look for insects with our A+ Insects and small critters 36 full color flash cards.
I also filled a block of Ice with plastic Insects and let Little Guy go to town smashing it up to find the insects!  He loved this!
We did our usual worksheets, then went out for Icecream!!
On Friday we headed to the science center to check out the new Insect Exhibit.  It was pretty awesome!  We brought our flashcards with us, and during lunch we talked about which insects we had seen at the exhibit and which we liked best.  It was a really fun day!

This week we also started an Autumn sensory bin, and bought an easel from Ikea (only $14.99!!)!

The books we read this week:

"Incredible Inchworm"
(glows in the dark!)

It's a Good Thing There are Insects" by Allan Fowler
(awesome book.  Perfect for Little Guy's age)

"Inch by Inch" by Leo Lionni
(loved it!)

The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Lorianne Siomodes
(cute illustrations)

"Izzy Impala's Imaginary Illness" by Barbara deRubertis
(these books are awesome!!)

"Short I and Long I Play a Game" by Jane Belk Moncure
(fantastic books to show the different sounds the vowels make.  Super fun books)
